The light-weight white shirt is the perfect trans-seasonal piece. It can keep you warm as the cool breeze hits, yet cool you down and shield you from the sun as the humidity plays tricks on Autumn. So just how can you wear the white shirt, apart from the generic jeans and blouse fallback?

Dress up a simple white shirt and jeans with a colourful autumn scarf (this season opt for warm colours such as pink, orange or red) and heels.
In a more corporate setting pair your blouse with a black pencil skirt and open toed heels for simple office chic. Add loud accessories such as big rings to make a statement.
Have some fun with high waisted shorts and combat boots (in colours other than black, such as brown or grey). You could also add a longline cardigan on a cooler day for extra comfort.
A classic printed skirt, like this one from Portmans can take your white shirt so far. Pair it with simple black heels and you've got enough class to introduce a charity event. Clearly inspired by Audrey Hepburn.
